The trade fair for materials testing, metrology and quality management will take place from the 14th through the 17th of November for the 11th time at Westfalenhallen in Dortmund.
Trade fairs for markets in regions for the future – it was in accordance with this maxim, years ago, that German private trade fair promoter Paul E Schall recognised the possibilities for the development of technical topics at the trade fair venue in North Rhine – Westphalia and launched the MTQ in Dortmund. Depending upon the economic situation, this hasn’t always been easy, but the MTQ has nevertheless established a good reputation over the years and now serves as a mirror image of successful structural changes in the north-western region of Germany. The trend away from the coal and steel industries and towards manufacturing is above all apparent in the fields of mechatronics, electrical engineering, device manufacturing and for suppliers to the automobile industry, which now play a dominant role on the Lower Rhine and on the Ruhr.

MTQ – Driving Force for Structural Change
The MTQ is thus located precisely where the demand is, which above all has also been confirmed by intensive visitor and exhibitor surveys. For example, 83.41% of all expert visitors come from North Rhine – Westphalia, 4.48% from Lower Saxony and 3.59% even come from Baden-Württemberg. 67% of all expert visitors come from industrial firms of all sizes, and 22.8% come from small service providers and workshops. The number one motivating factor for attending the MTQ is gathering information regarding further developments and new products (34.35%). A desire for improved product comparisons resulting from a good market overview, which leads to more reliable investment decision making, comes in second, and concrete procurement plans take third place.

MTQ – the Information and Procurement Platform
In this respect, the MTQ clearly differentiates itself from other, even larger trade fairs, at which concrete investment plans are playing a less and less prominent role. And the results of the last exhibitor survey confirm that this is indeed a fact: Nearly 82% were very satisfied where winning new customers was concerned, and roughly 50% not only enjoyed large numbers of visitors, but rather serious interest as well.

MTQ – Success with High Levels of Return Exhibitors
Based upon the continuing business success which MTQ exhibitors associate with the event, it’s no wonder that many return exhibitors (more than 75%) will be on hand at the 11th MTQ. These “repeat offenders” view the MTQ – located at the heart of the greatly changed and still changing Ruhr region – as the ideal platform for communicating with, and providing information to, existing and potential customers. Project manager Gitta Schlaak has announced that 140 exhibiting companies have already registered for the 11th MTQ who will occupy approximately 89,000 square feet of overall exhibition floor space. Thanks to the clearly focused product offerings in combination with the MTQ exhibitor forum, expert visitors will be presented with a well rounded mix of information for finding new solutions and making procurement decisions.
